Traces Left Behind
Graduate Work
'Traces Left Behind’ is a series of analogue photographs taken in my grandparents’ home in the midlands of Ireland. Using a Pentax 67ii, I aimed to capture the light and atmosphere of the decor and fixtures, which have remained untouched as the house passed from one generation to the next.
Now one family member is the sole occupant, maintaining an unbroken
lineage from the lean 1950s to the present day.
Each room holds a particular stillness and quality, as though preserved and
trapped in time. My project aims to capture the memories and echoes of
the lives once lived there.
The past lives on today through those who remain. Though they are in the
present, they seem somehow tied to the past and the memories of those
long gone. This body of work captures remnants of the past and a rural
Ireland that endures.
